WARS (Wargaming Analysis & Recommendation System) is a program and accompanying rule set for twentieth century wargaming. WARS is designed for armor and infantry either together or as separate scenarios. WARS works with any scenarios using figurines, counters, or paper wars. The program works in any scale (from 1/1 - real life to 1/10000 scale). The rules are based on the individual capabilities of each soldier and their actions. Ballistics are based on solution specific parameters that are normally too complicated for board games or other rule sets. Finally, WARS uses a reference system for all technical information. All actions are based on the physics and mechanics behind the actions.
It's been twelve years since I started working on this project. This is the sixth release of the program in so many years. For those who are unfamiliar with WARS, the name stands for Wargaming Analysis and Recommendation System. It is a radical approach to wargaming that has previously been limited to government sponsored programs. The approach takes combat to the 1:1 scale including individual crewmen, soldiers, and vehicles. Everything that occurs in the program is based on the physics, ballistics, and logistics that occur in real life. To model the effects in a scenario, the program takes some 4,800 factors into account. The result is a wargame that is the most accurate and complete wargame available to the public outside of a military simulation. The program though, often exceeds military simulations and wargames in both accuracy and performance.
